Introducing Lyrical Learning

Biz lessons from popular music.

lyrical_LearningAs a busy business owner, you probably have millions of articles, blogs, and social media posts that you have either read, saved in your inbox, or bookmarked to come back to later. Articles on how to run your business, how to manage your business, or even how to start your business are likely filling folders on your bookmark tab, and cluttering up your inbox as we speak. The problem is, after you have read the articles once or twice the material seems to vanish almost immediately, making those 10, 15, or 20 minutes you spent reading completely wasted time. Or, you may suffer from article hoarding, where you never actually read them, but instead collect them like porcelain dolls, or beanie babies AKA for no real purpose other than to have them. You need the information that these articles provide, but what can you do to make it stick, or make them interesting enough to actually read? Lucky for you, I’m gonna help you out!

Welcome to the new regular column for the Brand Meets Copy Blog called: Wait for it…..

Lyrical Learning

What is Lyrical Learning? Oh, just a little bit of business brilliance mixed with your favorite lyrics! I will take lyrics from popular songs (new and oldies but goodies), and turn them into a short and sweet business lesson that you will easily remember. In fact, if you are anything like me, you won’t be able to keep from singing along in your head when you read the amazing business truths that our favorite artists are putting out there.

How often will these be posted? That depends…how often do you want them? You let me know. I’m thinking a couple times a month, but I would happily write more of them if that would gain me the coveted spot of #1 copywriter on your list!

As with anything new and exciting, there are rules and disclaimers that, while they should go without saying, I won’t go without saying them.

So, here are the rules and disclaimers:
  1. This is supposed to be fun, and a little snarky, and a little ridiculous. In other words: don’t expect to read these articles and then pass a final in your MBA program.
  2. This is supposed to be for fun. (I know I already said that, but I can’t drive that point home enough!)
  3. I am happy to take requests; in fact, I would love requests, but no songs from artists that have copyrights on specific short phrases of their songs. Who needs that drama, am I right?
  4. The artists themselves have no affiliation with Brand Meets Copy. The use of these lyrics is for the purpose of education only. The lyrics represented here do not in any way suggest that the artist or songwriters endorse the content presented. Brand Meets Copy is receiving no compensation to write these articles. (Are we having fun yet?)

With that being said, get ready for a little fun, learning, and laughs with Lyrical Learning by Brand Meets Copy.

First Stop? A lesson in keeping that motivation alive in your business from the lyrical genius of Mr. Vanilla Ice.
