It all began with some kittens…

I was about 8 years old when I realized the power of words; the persuasion of words. My cat Jill had just given birth to a litter of kittens, and my parents were making me do the unthinkable: give them all away.

Being the sensitive (and overly dramatic) child that I was, I set out to do what any 8-year-old child would do (I think?) I embarked on the journey of writing my first persuasive sales letter, my first copywriting assignment. Using my well-crafted and heart-wrenching words, I explained to my parents the benefits of allowing me to keep all the kittens, and of course let them know the risks of not allowing me to keep all 7 kittens.

I used emotion to win their hearts, and then backed up my emotional claims with facts, just so they would feel good about the emotional decision they had made.

Example:

Emotional Claim: I love the kittens.

Fact to Back it up: I will die without them.

Now you have to be wondering…Did it work?

Well, I did get to keep one of the kittens. But even greater than that kitten, my love affair with words had begun.

Since those kitten story days, my writing has progressed (thankfully) and I have studied (and studied and studied!) what it takes to write great copy. My goal is to help you succeed by providing your brand with well written copy for your website, email newsletter, and marketing materials.

I also provide editing services for those who prefer to craft their own copy, or for authors looking to get published. I am currently working on an MA in English with an emphasis in nonfiction writing, and have studied copy editing through a certificate program. I have also taken the number one copywriting course available through American Writers and Artist’s Inc. in addition to several other courses, and I have worked with an amazing copywriting mentor who has guided me along the way. I have written hundreds (maybe thousands?) of articles, press releases, ghostwritten pieces, blog postings, and web copy pages.
I also have experience as an entrepreneur, having owned three businesses in three different industries (so when I say I get what a headache entrepreneurship can be, you know I mean it!)

I get it…as a business owner you have a zillion things to do, and can probably think of a million better ways you could spend 20 hours instead of crafting copy messages for your brand. But, these messages do need to get written, and they have to get written in a way that cuts through the noise out there (not the easiest job in the world, right?).
